The process
What happens after you get in touch
Five steps, and you always know which one you're on.
- 01
Step 1: Send a few lines
Call, text or use the form. Tell me where you're from, who is in your family and any notice or date you've received. Selam answers with times to meet.
- 02
Step 2: Meet for the consultation
We spend the meeting on your facts: your status, your papers, your deadlines. You leave knowing which options exist and which don't.
- 03
Step 3: Get the plan in writing
A short letter lists the steps, the government's filing fees, my fee and who does what. Nothing starts until you've read it and signed.
- 04
Step 4: Gather and file
Selam sends a checklist of documents. I prepare the forms and the evidence, and you read every page before it goes in.
- 05
Step 5: Follow it to a decision
Biometrics, interview or hearing: I tell you what to expect before each one, and I write to you after.
Your first meeting
Four things to put in a folder
An ID
A passport or any identity document, for you and for the family members in the case.
Every notice
Letters and notices from the government, even old ones and even ones you think don't matter.
Family papers
Birth and marriage certificates, and any earlier immigration filings.
Your dates
When you arrived, where you've lived and any dates you were stopped or detained.
Two kinds of fees
I quote my fee for the consultation and for the case in writing before you pay anything. The government's filing fees are separate and set by the agencies; I list the ones that apply to you in the plan, so you can see them before you pay them.
Send the first few lines
That's the only step that needs to happen today.
